He studied at the Musikakademie de Bâle with Pierre Boulez and Karlheinz Stockhausen. He has composed about 250 works for great orchestras, chamber ensembles, electro-acoustic media and has created numerous sound installations, some of which are permanent (Temple à Shinjuku, Tokyo, Bellelay Abbey in Switzerland). He co-founded the Movement of Environmental Sound (Collectif Environnement Sonore) and is director of Rencontres Architecture Musique Écologie and the collection Musique/Environnement Champs Social/Lucie editions, Nîmes FR.
